A section of Seven Lakes Drive will close overnight beginning tonight as part of the ongoing N.C. 211 widening project, according to the N.C. Department of Transportation.
The closures will affect Seven Lakes Drive between N.C. 211 and MacDougall Drive and are scheduled to continue nightly through Sept. 25, weather permitting.
The road will close each night at 9 p.m. and reopen by 6 a.m. the following morning.
NCDOT said the closures are necessary for crews to replace storm drains and crossline pipes and relocate waterlines as part of the N.C. 211 widening project.
During the closures, motorists will be detoured using N.C. 211, Love Grove Church Road, Carthage Road and Seven Lakes Drive.
The work was originally scheduled to take place Sept. 10-17, but NCDOT postponed the start of the closures until Sept. 17.
Transportation officials are asking motorists traveling through the area to plan ahead, watch for construction crews and follow posted traffic signs.
