Semi-truck overturns on ramp to U.S. Highway 1, spills load of sand

Published on

A semi-truck hauling a load of sand overturned Monday morning while attempting to exit N.C. Highway 24-27 onto the ramp leading to U.S. Highway 1 northbound.

According to officials, the truck overturned onto its side during the turn, spilling sand across the ramp and shoulder. Emergency crews responded quickly to the scene, closing the ramp for several hours as they worked to upright the truck and clear the roadway.

Drivers were detoured while the cleanup operation took place, leading to some traffic delays in the area. The ramp was fully reopened later in the day.
