A two-vehicle crash involving an overturned truck and trailer closed N.C. 24-27 at Stage Road on Saturday evening.

First responders were dispatched to the scene around 7:45 p.m. A Kia Forte had heavy front end damage with the hood partially ripped off. A Dodge Ram pick up towing a trailer full of tools had flipped, and had heavy damage all over.

According to N.C. Highway Patrol, the driver of the Forte was traveling on Stage Road towards 24-27, and failed to stop at the stop sign. The driver told investigators his brakes failed. The Forte ran into the Ram truck that was traveling east on Highway 24-27. The impact zone was near the spot the trailer attached to the truck, which with the weight of the load caused the truck and trailer to rollover.

Debris that included building tools and materials scattered the roadway. Highway 24-27 was shutdown for over two hours to allow crews to clean up the scene.

The driver of the Forte had minor injuries and was check out by paramedics at the scene. The driver of the Dodge was transported to the hospital with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries. There were no other occupants in either vehicle.
