Person injured in overnight shooting after leaving party in Eagle Springs

A person was injured early Sunday morning in a shooting incident that occurred as they were leaving a party on Community Road in the Eagle Springs area, according to officials.

Authorities say the victim was inside a vehicle when someone opened fire, striking them in the shoulder. Despite being hit, the victim was able to drive away from the scene and called 911 for help.

Emergency responders met the victim at the intersection of Archie Road and N.C. Highway 211 shortly after 1 a.m. Officials confirmed that the victim sustained only a graze wound to the shoulder and declined medical treatment at the scene.

No further details have been released about a suspect or motive.
