One person was taken to the hospital Thursday evening following a two-vehicle crash that also caused a brief animal escape in Eastwood.

The crash occurred at the intersection of Murdocksville Road and Doubs Chapel Road when a Kia Seltos, traveling south on Murdocksville Road, failed to stop at a stop sign, according to state troopers. A Honda Accord traveling along Doubs Chapel Road toward Highway 15-501 struck the side of the Kia in the intersection.

The impact caused both vehicles off the roadway. The Kia broke through a fence and came to rest in a pasture, allowing several goats to escape the enclosed area, according to officials. Local residents and first responders helped round up the animals.

The driver of the Honda Accord was transported to the hospital for treatment. The Kia was carrying two adults and two children; officials say none of them were injured.

The intersection was temporarily blocked as crews worked to clear the scene.
