One person airlifted after crashing involving a moped in Carthage

A moped driver was airlifted Monday after a crash in Carthage with injuries believed to be non-life-threatening.

The crash occurred around noon at the intersection of McReynolds Street and Ray Street. According to authorities, the moped driver pulled out from Ray Street into the path of an SUV traveling on McReynolds Street. McReynolds Street was closed to traffic for a short time while the crash was investigated and cleared.

First responders set up a landing zone for UNC Carolina Air Care at Gilliam-McConnell Airfield near Pik N Pig in Carthage to airlift the moped driver to a trauma center.
