A person was injured in a crash on Airport Road at the entrance to Harris Teeter in Whispering Pines on Friday afternoon.

Firefighters from Southern Pines and Whispering Pines arrived quickly at the scene to two vehicles with heavy damage. The female driver of a Hyundai sedan was pinned in her vehicle, crews worked to cut the door and help her get out of the car. She was transported by Moore County EMS to the hospital. Her condition is unknown.

The NC State Highway Patrol investigating the crash says the driver of the Hyundai was attempting to turn right onto Airport Road from the Harris Teeter parking lot. The Hyundai pulled into the path of an oncoming Ford Ranger XLT, causing a t-bone impact.

The driver of the Ranger was uninjured.

Airport Road was reduced to one lane of travel while crews worked the scene.
