One airlifted after crash on U.S. 1 business

Published on

A serious crash Wednesday evening shut down part of U.S. Highway 1 Business and left one person injured.

The crash happened near McNeil Street, just north of Cameron. According to troopers, the driver of a Dodge Nitro was traveling south when he crossed the center line, went into a yard, and struck a basketball goal, a jungle gym, and a parked Ford Explorer.

The impact caused the Explorer to flip onto its driver’s side.

The driver of the Dodge Nitro, who was the only occupant in either vehicle, suffered a broken leg and was airlifted to a trauma center for treatment. No other injuries were reported.

Drivers experienced delays while emergency crews worked the scene, but the roadway has since reopened.
