Saturday morning’s weather set up perfect conditions for fun times at the third annual VIP Paddle Day hosted by the North Moore Lions Club and Foothills Outdoors. The event took place at Robbins Millpond on Shore Drive from 10 a.m. to noon.
The organizations invited a group of visually impaired participants to enjoy time on kayaks, canoes, and stand-up paddle boards. Event organizers say it’s a great way for them to experience something they might not otherwise get to enjoy.
Each participant is teamed with a partner that describes the surroundings while enjoying the senses of nature. The Lions Club plans to continue this event each year, in addition to other activities like vision testing in schools, and fundraising.
