According to N.C. State Highway Patrol investigating the crash, a Honda Civic with two people inside was traveling on Jackson Springs Road when the male driver failed to stop at a top sign, colliding into the front passenger side of a Hyundai Santa Fe.

Moore County EMS transported the female passenger of the Civic to a landing zone at West End Fire Department to be airlifted to a trauma center with possibly serious injuries. The male driver of the Santa Fe was also transported by helicopter to a trauma center from a landing zone set up near the site of the crash. The driver of the Civic was taken to FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital.

Highway 73 was closed for nearly two hours while crews from West End Fire & Rescue were clearing the scene. Seven Lakes Fire & Rescue and the Moore County Sheriff’s Office also assisted with the crash.
