The 15-year-old female that went missing in Aberdeen on Friday night was found safe in Michigan on Monday, according to the N.C. State Bureau of Investigation.
Moore County News reported overnight, according to release from the NCSBI, authorities in Michigan located the juvenile on Monday and safely placed her in police care. An 18-year-old male was arrested in connection with the investigation, the NCSBI stated.
On Tuesday morning, Aberdeen Police confirmed that the girl had been returned home to her parents in Aberdeen.
The search for the missing teen started late Friday night when authorities say she left her home under her own will. Aberdeen Police investigated and were able to locate the teen’s cell phone. At that time, the FBI and the SBI were able to get leads from information within the teen’s phone that lead them to believe she was located in Michigan.
Authorities say Isiah Kristopher Steed, 18, of Sterling Heights, Michigan, has been charged with felony second-degree kidnapping in connection to the case. “Due to the juvenile’s age and her legally not being able to consent to being transported to Michigan, warrants were obtained,” Aberdeen Police say.
The investigation included local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies. Aberdeen Police say the support of these agencies were crucial in the ability to locate and return the girl to her parents.
