Man injured after hitting several pine trees, knocking one completely to the ground

Carthage Road is currently shut down between Doubs Chapel Road and Kanoy Road after a man crashed into several pine trees, bringing one of the trees completely to the ground.

The collision happened shortly after 9 p.m. near Fairview Baptist Church outside of Carthage.

First responders arrived to a heavily damaged Chevy Silverado in the roadway, with a large pine tree on the ground beside the vehicle. The driver was able to get out of the Silverado on his own.

Authorities say the man admitted to being intoxicated, and an open container was found in the front floor of the truck.

Firefighters from Eastwood Fire Department worked to cut and remove the pine tree from the road way for approximately 20 minutes.

The driver was transported to the hospital with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.
