A driver escaped serious injury after a mailbox post penetrated through the bottom of his car and into the driver’s seat.

The crash happened on Byrd Road near Cypress Church Road outside of Vass on Tuesday around 3:15 p.m.

According to N.C. State Highway Patrol, the driver was traveling at a high rate of speed, ran off the right side of the road and hit a ditch. That caused him to go airbourne, and nosedived into the ground. The vehicle collies with a row of mailboxes, and flipped.

A wooden post from a mailbox impaled the bottom of the car, pushing all the way through the driver’s seat.

Luckily, the driver was not harmed and was able to exit the car on his own.
