A head-on crash involving a semi-truck and a Honda Civic closed N.C. Highway 705 closed at Bensalem Church Road near Eagle Springs on Sunday.
Emergency crews arrived to the scene around 3 p.m., and reported the female driver of the Civic was trapped in the vehicle. They quickly worked to free her and get her medical attention.

Tar Heel 2 from UNC Carolina’s Air Care landed at a nearby landing zone, and transported the driver of the Civic to a trauma center. Paramedics said the driver does not appear to have life-threatening injuries.

Troopers investigating the crash say the Civic’s driver was traveling from Bensalem Church Road to Fire Tower Road when she entered the path of the semi-truck traveling south on Highway 705. The driver of the truck slammed on the brakes quickly, which authorities say likely prevented critical injuries to the other driver. The truck was transporting chicken feed to a nearby facility.
The driver of the semi-truck was not injured.
