Published on

A residential storage shed caught fire Tuesday afternoon near the intersection of Roseland Road and Sand Pit Road in Aberdeen. The incident began just before 2 p.m.

According to officials, the fire happened when the homeowner was cleaning an area around the shed and had an active burn pile. Flames from the burn pile quickly spread to the shed.

The first arriving fire unit reported the shed was fully involved, and immediately set up a fire attack. Units from Aberdeen, Pinebluff, Pinehurst, Southern Pines, West End, and NC Forestry Service responded to the scene.

The flames also burned an area of pine straw next to the shed. Fire units remained on scene hitting hot spots for around an hour after the initial call.
