Driver hits tree on Midland Road, crash closes eastbound lanes

Published on

A serious car crash had the eastbound lanes of Midland Road in Pinehurst closed on Friday. The crash happened near Glen Meadow Court, about 1 mile from the traffic circle, around 9:30 p.m.

The female driver of an Audi A5 hit a tree in the median of Midland, and the impact sent to vehicle off the other side of the road.

Pinehurst Fire tells Moore County News the female driver was unconscious when they arrived. AirCare was requested but could not fly due to weather. The fire department had to cut the driver door off to get the driver out of the vehicle. She was taken by Moore County EMS to Moore Regional Hospital in critical condition, then transferred to UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill around 4 a.m.

Pinehurst Police say that speed was likely a factor.
