Downed power lines close North Poplar Street

Published on

North Poplar Street had to be closed for over an hour on Wednesday afternoon due to downed power lines.

Shortly after noon, first responders were sent to the area between Peach Avenue and Cedar Avenue for a crash. When they arrived, they discovered downed power lines, but could not find a vehicle involved in a collision.

Aberdeen Police and Aberdeen Fire closed down N Poplar Street until Duke Energy could arrive.

The road has since reopened, however Duke Energy remains on the scene repairing the lines. Motorists are asked to avoid the area until 4 p.m.
