A single-vehicle crash shut down a lane of Highway 22 near the entrance to Reservoir Park in Southern Pines Wednesday afternoon.

The crash happened just before 1:15 p.m. as a vehicle was traveling south on Highway 22. Authorities say the driver lost control, crossed the centerline, and struck a guardrail on the northbound side of the road. The impact sent the vehicle back across the road, coming to rest in the southbound lane.

There was one occupant in the vehicle. The driver was evaluated at the scene but was not transported to the hospital, according to officials.

One lane of Highway 22 remains shut down as first responders work the scene. Drivers are urged to use caution and expect delays.
