Crash shuts down Highway 15-501 south in Carthage

A crash involving a Penske moving truck and a Volkswagen Atlas shut down Highway 15-501 south at the Monroe Street crossover Friday morning.

Carthage police told Moore County News the Penske truck attempted to cross over 15-501 south into the path of the Atlas, which was traveling southbound. The driver of the Atlas was taken to the hospital with what are believed to be minor injuries.

The crash happened around 9:30 a.m., and the roadway reopened shortly after 10:30 a.m. Police noted that this type of crash is often seen at the intersection.
