Based on scanner traffic, there was some initial confusion at the crash scene, as a nearby homeowner reported to 911 that someone was trying to break into their home. Firefighters and EMS were told to stage near the scene until Moore County Sheriff Deputies could arrive. Once deputies arrived, fire and EMS were given the clear to proceed to the scene. Authorities told Moore County News at the scene that the driver of the vehicle was knocking on doors and windows trying to get help, and was not trying to break into the home.
According to N.C. Highway Patrol, a teenaged driver of a Toyota Corolla was traveling north on Murdocksville Road when they came up on a tree down in the road way. The driver swerved to avoid hitting the tree, went off the left side of the road, and hit a different tree. The impact split the tree in half, and caused significant damage to the front of the Corolla.
