Car crashes through wood fence, dash impaled by piece of wood

Published on

A woman escaped serious injury after she crashed through a wooden fence in Vass, with a piece of the fence impaling the dash of the car. The crash happened Tuesday around 8:30 p.m. in the 800 block of Lakebay Road.

Troopers investigating the crash say the driver was traveling west on Lakebay Road when she crossed the centerline and ran off the road. The vehicle then collided with the wooden fence, sending one of the fence posts through the back window and into the dash. Luckily, there was no passenger in the front seat, and the driver avoided injury in the collision.

The road was wet at the time of the crash and that could have been a factor in the crash. The driver was cited for exceeding a safe speed for road conditions.
