An argument between two roommates led to one of the men allegedly shooting the other man in the Woodgreen Apartments community.

According to Aberdeen Police Chief Brian Chavis, the two men were arguing inside an apartment at 500 Bradford Drive, it lead to a physical altercation, and ended with one man with multiple wounds to the head from a pellet gun.

AirCare was initially put on standby, but was cancelled once Moore County paramedics were able to evaluate the condition of the victim. He’s injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening.

Chavis says both men were arrested at the scene. Arrest records show that Joseph Bayes Thornton was arrested and charged with discharging a firearm in city, and assault with a deadly weapon, and received no bond. His first court date is set for August 21, 2024.

All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
