A 52-year-old Aberdeen man is facing felony charges after a stabbing that left one person injured, according to the Aberdeen Police Department.

Officers responded Thursday, April 23, to the area of Bradford Drive and Woodgreen Drive after a report of a suspicious person outside with a gun. When officers arrived, they made contact with the man, later identified as Anthony Michael Colonello, and safely disarmed him.

Colonello appeared highly intoxicated and made statements referencing a prior assault, according to the Aberdeen Police Department. No victim was initially located.

A short time later, officers were notified that an adult male had arrived at Moore Regional Hospital with a single stab wound to the chest. Investigators determined the man had been allegedly assaulted by Colonello, according to the Aberdeen Police Department. The victim was treated and released with non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators obtained warrants charging Colonello with felony assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and misdemeanor communicating threats, according to the Aberdeen Police Department.

Colonello was also at Moore Regional Hospital for unrelated evaluation and treatment and was admitted by hospital staff. On Friday, April 24, officers were notified of his release and took him into custody.

He was taken before a Moore County magistrate and was issued no bond, according to the Aberdeen Police Department.
