Crash splits power pole, shuts down Union Church Road for hours

Published on

Union Church Road is closed following a two-vehicle crash at Timberwood Drive that brought down a power pole and is expected to keep the roadway shut down for several hours.

The crash happened just before 4 p.m. Friday.

Authorities say the crash involved a Ford F-150 and a Nissan Frontier. According to witnesses at the scene, the F-150 attempted a U-turn and the Frontier clipped the F-150. The Frontier then ran off the right side of the road and struck a power pole, splitting it.

Central Electric crews were on scene and replaced the damaged pole, leaving nearby communities without power during the work. The road remained closed while crews installed the new pole.

No injuries were reported in the crash.
