Three teenagers escaped serious injury Sunday afternoon after the car they were traveling in crashed into a tree at a Pinehurst intersection, according to police.

The crash happened at the intersection of Lost Tree Road and St. Andrews Drive. Investigators said a Buick sedan carrying three teens was traveling along St. Andrews Drive when the driver attempted to turn onto Lost Tree Road. The vehicle was reportedly moving too fast to make the turn and struck a tree head-on, according to police.

Officials said one back-seat passenger suffered a severe nose injury but did not go to the hospital by ambulance. The other two occupants were evaluated at the scene by medics, their injury details were not given.

Lost Tree Road was temporarily closed while officials investigated and cleared the scene.
