Woman shot while man tried to stop dog attack in Vass

A woman was airlifted to the hospital Tuesday morning after she was accidentally shot while being attacked by a dog in Vass, according to Major Eric Galloway with the Moore County Sheriff’s Office.

Galloway said the incident happened on Richfield Court when a dog attacked a woman at the property. A man tried to stop the attack by shooting the dog, but the woman was accidentally struck.

Her injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening. Officials say the dog was killed at the scene.

The Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate.
