Crash causes delays on Midland Road after T-bone collision at stoplight

Published on

A two-vehicle crash at a busy Southern Pines intersection caused traffic delays Thursday afternoon.

The T-bone collision happened just before 4 p.m. at the intersection of Midland Road and Knoll Road. The crash occurred at the stoplight, prompting emergency crews to shut down part of the intersection.

Westbound traffic on Midland was detoured onto Knoll Road, while one eastbound lane remained closed as firefighters and police were on the scene.

Fire crews had to cut the driver’s side door off one of the vehicles to free a woman trapped inside. The woman was able to get out of the vehicle on her own, but she was placed on a stretcher and evaluated by medical personnel.

Drivers are encouraged to avoid the area while emergency crews remain on the scene and cleanup continues.
