A Ford Mustang GT rolled over in a crash along U.S. Highway 1 near St. Joseph Road Thursday evening, but the driver walked away uninjured.

The crash happened around 6:30 p.m. as the sports car was traveling southbound. According to North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the driver lost control, veered off the right side of the road, and hit an embankment. The impact caused the Mustang to flip and spin before coming to a stop.

Heavy bursts of rain was in the area around the time of the crash. Troopers said speed was likely a factor—and pointed out that the vehicle’s rear tires had little tread remaining, which likely contributed to the loss of control.

One southbound lane of U.S. 1 was closed temporarily while emergency crews cleared the scene, but traffic was only minimally affected.
