Crews cut car open to rescue trapped driver in crash near Cameron

A driver was extricated and transported to a trauma center following a serious single-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon in the 4400 block of Hillmon Grove Road, less than a mile from the Moore-Harnett County line.

Emergency crews were dispatched at 2:38 p.m. to the scene, where they found a vehicle that had collided with a tree, trapping the driver inside. The first arriving units reported heavy damage and a pinned-in occupant.

First responders used heavy hydraulic rescue tools to cut a large portion of the driver’s side to access the patient. Crews then used a hydraulic ram to push back the dashboard and reposition the emergency brake pedal, ultimately freeing the driver.

The patient was transported to a nearby trauma center. Their condition has not been released. The cause of the crash was not released.
