The Aberdeen Police Department has announced the arrest of 50-year-old James Gregory King, of Aberdeen, following an alleged domestic dispute on April 4. Officers responded to a residence near Wayland Street and Stephanie Street in the early hours of the morning, where a woman had reported an argument with King.

Upon arrival, officers spoke with the female victim, who appeared visibly upset about the altercation. As the investigation progressed, police interviewed a second woman, who lives at the home and has an intellectual disability. Additional statements from the victim and a witness led investigators to determine that King had allegedly attempted to sexually assault the woman on multiple occasions, according to Aberdeen Police.

As a result of the investigation, Aberdeen Police obtained warrants for King’s arrest on charges of Felony Attempted Second Degree Forcible Rape, Misdemeanor Sexual Battery, and Communicating Threats. King was arrested on-site and taken before a Moore County Magistrate. Due to a domestic hold, he was denied bond and is awaiting a pretrial release hearing.
