Two drivers injured in head-on crash, Highway 211 westbound shutdown

Published on

A two-vehicle crash at the intersection of N.C. Highway 211 and Page Road in Pinehurst sent two drivers to the hospital and caused major traffic delays on Tuesday.

Officials say the collision happened just before 4:45 p.m. when the driver of a Toyota Camry attempted to turn left from eastbound Highway 211 onto Page Road. A westbound Toyota Corolla slammed into the Camry head-on, according to authorities on the scene.

The impact left both vehicles heavily damaged. Emergency crews responded quickly and transported both drivers to the hospital. Their conditions have not been released.

Westbound lanes of Highway 211 were shut down at the intersection as a result of the crash, and traffic was detoured onto Page Road. The closure led to significant traffic backups in the area during the evening commute. The highway reopened just before 5:30 p.m.
