Fire destroys home on Highway 705 near Robbins

A fire destroyed a house on Highway 705 near Noah Road outside of Robbins on Saturday evening, prompting a major emergency response.

The fire started just before 5:30 p.m., and by the time first responders arrived, the structure was fully engulfed in flames. Witnesses reported several propane tanks exploding as the fire raged, adding to the intensity of the blaze.

Fortunately, the resident was not inside at the time. However, flames spread to nearby trees, requiring assistance from the North Carolina Forestry Service to contain the fire.

Officials say the fire appears to have started at the front of the house, either on or near the porch, but the exact cause remains under investigation.

Highway 705 was shut down for several hours while crews worked to bring the fire under control and ensure the area was safe.
