Two men were arrested after police say they believe the men were attempting to steal from the Tractor Supply located on U.S. 1 in Vass. The incident was initially reported as an armed robbery in progress just after 3 p.m. on Tuesday.

Moore County News arrived shortly after the police and heard an employee say that several workers noticed a man acting suspiciously inside the store, prompting them to call 911.

According to scanner traffic, a male subject was in the store trying to break into a glass case with a pocket knife. Another subject was in a vehicle identified as a Ford Focus, allegedly waiting for the subject inside.

Police from Vass, N.C. State Highway Patrol, and the Moore County Sheriff’s Office quickly responded and placed both subjects in custody.

Detectives from the Moore County Sheriff’s Office were seen searching the Ford Focus in the parking lot.

MCN was told that both males were arrested and transported to the Moore County Detention Center. No information on their charges have been released at this time.
