15-501 closes due to crash at Monroe Street

Another crash at the Monroe Street crossover to U.S. Highway 15-501 in Carthage closed the southbound lanes of the highway, sending three people to the hospital. The collision happened Monday afternoon around 3 p.m.

Carthage Police tell Moore County News that the driver of a Toyota sedan traveling on Monroe Street pulled out in front of a SUV traveling southbound on 15-501. The impact caused heavy damage to both vehicles, sending them into the median.

The single occupant in the SUV along with the two occupants of the sedan were transported to the hospital with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.
