The busy intersection at U.S. 15-501 and Monroe Street in Carthage was closed Thursday morning after a collision.

First responders arrived to a t-bone crash with heavy damage. One of the vehicles was blocking the travel lane, causing crews to detour traffic traveling southbound 15-501 to merge onto Monroe Street.

According to investigators, a Dodge Dart crossing the intersection from Monroe Street failed to yield to a Chrysler Cross Country minivan traveling south on 15-501.

Carthage Fire & Rescue told Moore County News at the scene, both drivers were transported to the hospital by Moore County EMS with what appears to be minor injuries.

The crash scene was cleared within approximately 45 minutes from the initial dispatch.
