One person was airlifted after the motorcycle they were riding collided head-on with an SUV. The crash happened just before 11 p.m. on Sunday on Lobelia Road at McGill Road outside of Vass.
According to N.C. State Highway Patrol investigating the crash, the motorcyclist was traveling westbound on Lobelia, when the driver of a Nissan Rogue traveling eastbound attempted a left turn onto McGill, into the path of the motorcycle.

A landing zone was set up at Crains Creek Fire station, and the motorcyclist transported there by Moore County EMS to be flown to a trauma center. Lobelia Road was shut down in both directions by the Moore County Sheriff’s Office while the crash was investigated and crews from Crains Creek Fire Department worked to clear the scene.
The driver of the Rogue was cited for failure to yield. They and their passenger were not injured.
