2 crashes cause traffic delays on U.S. 1 in Vass

Two separate crashes within less than half a mile on U.S. 1 North caused traffic to see delays near the intersection of Horse Pin Lane.

The first crash happened after 4 p.m. near U.S. 1 North and Grant Road, when a vehicle blew a tire and lost control. The vehicle spun out off the road and into a tree line.

The driver of that vehicle was transported by Moore County EMS to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

No other vehicle was involved in the initial crash.

The second crash happened while traffic was backing up from the initial wreck.

A minivan smashed into the back of a Toyota Camry.

The right lane of U.S. 1 was blocked for over an hour while crews cleared the crash scenes.

Cypress Point Fire & Rescue, Vass Police, and the N.C. State Highway Patrol responded to both incidents.
