Woman airlifted after hitting tree near Eastwood

One person was airlifted after crashing into a tree off Esther Road near Eastwood. The crash happened Monday afternoon.

A woman was driving a Toyota sedan headed towards Highway 15-501, when she lost control of the vehicle, over-corrected, and went off the right side of the road. The vehicle collided with a tree, the impact spun the vehicle, and it came to a stop down an embankment, according to authorities.

The woman was out of the vehicle when first responders arrived, and she was transported to a landing zone set up at Eastwood Fire station.

Family members on scene told Moore County News the woman was alert and talking with them in the ambulance, and the transport by helicopter was precautionary.
