The Aberdeen Police Department announced they have arrested a Fort Bragg soldier on felony charges of soliciting a minor.
In a press release, the Aberdeen Police Department stated that 20-year-old Dustin Ray Goodroe of Fort Bragg was arrested on February 14, 2025, with assistance from Moore County Sheriff’s Office investigators and Fort Bragg CID.
According to police, the arrest stems from an investigation that started on January 26, 2025, when APD received a report of a missing juvenile. Aberdeen investigators responded and began tracking possible leads on the juvenile’s whereabouts.
During the investigation, police identified Goodroe as a person of interest. Authorities allege that he solicited the juvenile for sex following explicit online conversations with her.
With assistance from the Army Criminal Investigations Division and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and later in collaboration with Moore County Sheriff’s Office investigators, search warrants were executed, and additional interviews were conducted. As a result, according to the press release, warrants were issued for Goodroe on charges of Felony Solicitation of a Minor by Computer Device for an Unlawful Sexual Act. The Moore County Sheriff’s Office also obtained warrants for Felony First-Degree Kidnapping.
Goodroe was placed on a $150,000 secured bond in the Moore County Detention Center, and is scheduled to appear in court on February 16, 2025.
All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
