Man injured in fall at Moore County Solid Waste Center

Published on

A man was seriously injured Monday afternoon after falling into a garbage container at the Moore County Solid Waste Center off Cranes Creek Road, officials said.

The incident happened around 5:30 p.m. as the man was trying to unload a grill from the back of his truck. According to authorities, he lost his balance and fell into one of the large garbage containers.

Due to the extent of his injuries, medical crews requested an airlift to a trauma center. However, storms to the north of Moore County prevented helicopters from flying.

Instead, the man was taken by ground ambulance for further treatment.

The Solid Waste Center was temporarily closed while emergency crews worked the scene.

No additional information about the man’s condition has been released.
