Highway Patrol investigating fatal antique tractor crash

Published on

A man is dead after an antique tractor ran off the road and crashed along Dover Church Road, less than half a mile from the Moore and Montgomery County line Saturday afternoon.

According to the N.C. State Highway Patrol, a group of antique tractors were traveling together after participating in a parade in Troy when the accident happened. Troopers say one of the tractors veered off the right side of the road and struck a tree.

The driver of that tractor was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released.

Officials say the investigation is ongoing, but it is likely the man suffered a medical episode before losing control of the tractor.

Dover Church Road was reduced to one lane of travel while authorities investigated.
