Fatal crash closes Highway 15-501 south of Aberdeen

Authorities shutdown a section of Highway 15-501 after a fatal crash at the intersection with Pee Dee Road. The collision happened around 10:45 on Saturday morning.

A witness told Moore County News that the driver of a Kia Seltos ran the stop sign, into the path of a casket vault truck. Both vehicles went off the roadway, and the vault truck stuck a tree.

The driver of the vault truck was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger from the truck, and the driver from the Kia were flown to a trauma center.

The highway was closed for an extended time while emergency crews investigated and cleared the scene.
