Driver killed in single-vehicle crash near McDeeds Creek Elementary

A driver was killed Sunday after a single-vehicle crash on Camp Easter Road near McDeeds Creek Elementary School.

According to officials, the vehicle overturned and the driver, who was the only person inside, was pronounced dead at the scene. The name of the driver has not yet been released, pending notification of family members.

Camp Easter Road was shut down for an extended period while authorities investigated and cleared the scene.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Southern Pines Police Department.
