Driver injured after falling asleep, crashing into tree

Published on

A man was injured in an overnight crash that happened shortly after 1 a.m. on Sunday at the intersection of North Fort Bragg Road and McNeil Road.

First responders arrived to a Chevy pick-up truck that collided with a tree. The driver was able to get himself out of the truck, and was transported to the hospital by ambulance.

Investigators say the vehicle crossed the center line and off the left side of the road where it hit the tree. They also say the man claimed he fell sleep behind the wheel, which caused him to crash.

Authorities say charges are pending against the driver.
