Driver avoids injury after crashing into tree near Vass

A driver walked away without injuries after his vehicle struck a tree late Saturday morning near Vass.

The single-vehicle crash occurred around 11:30 a.m. along McInnis Road near the intersection with Holly Road.

According to officials, the driver of a Honda Ridgeline told first responders that a deer ran into the roadway. He swerved to avoid the animal, veered off the opposite side of the road, and hit a tree.

Paramedics evaluated the driver at the scene, but he was not taken to the hospital.
