A two-vehicle crash shut down a section of Lobelia Road for more than an hour Monday afternoon after a Jeep Gladiator collided with a GMC Sierra at a busy intersection.

The crash happened around 4:15 p.m. at the intersection of Lobelia Road and Morrison Bridge Road. According to state troopers, the driver of the Jeep Gladiator was attempting to turn left from Morrison Bridge Road onto Lobelia Road toward Vass when it pulled into the path of an oncoming GMC Sierra traveling toward Spring Lake.

The impact caused significant disruption to traffic, prompting firefighters from Crain’s Creek Fire Department to shut down Lobelia Road to safely manage the scene and reroute drivers.

No injuries were reported in the crash. The road was reopened to traffic just before 5:30 p.m.
