A man escaped serious injury after the car he was driving was struck several times by bullets.
According to authorities, the driver said the shooting took place along Gaines Street in Southern Pines. The driver fled the scene and drove to the Lobelia area. He stopped at the Dollar General on Lobelia Road at McPherson Road when his car became disabled from the damage.





The store clerk called 911 to report the shooting resulting in Moore County Sheriff deputies responding to the Dollar General. Once the driver told deputies the shooting happened in Southern Pines, an investigator with Southern Pines Police responded to the Dollar General near Vass.
Moore County News saw eight bullet holes in the Audi A5, including one that struck the windshield, barely missing the driver.
The incident remains under investigation by Southern Pines Police, since the shooting took place in their jurisdiction.
The driver of the Audi was not injured.
