Amazon delivery van catches fire outside Robbins Elementary

Published on

An Amazon delivery truck caught fire Monday afternoon in the parking lot of Robbins Elementary School, destroying the vehicle and all of the packages inside.

The fire broke out just before 2:30 p.m. along Gardenia Road. When the first fire crew arrived on scene, they reported a fully involved Sprinter-style delivery van with flames coming from the cabin.

Firefighters worked quickly to extinguish the blaze, but the fire had already consumed the vehicle. No injuries were reported, though none of the packages in the van could be salvaged.

Officials say the fire appears to have started in the engine compartment, though the exact cause is still under investigation.

School was not in session at the time due to summer break.
