Accidental shooting leaves one dead in Seven Lakes West

One person has died after an accidental shooting that happened along the 300 block of Longleaf Drive in the Seven Lakes West community.

Moore County Sheriff’s Office says they responded to the scene around 1:50 p.m. to a report of a woman that had been accidentally shot in the chest. According to authorities, CPR was performed on the woman until first responders arrived. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

West End Fire & Rescue Chief Erik Stromberg confirmed to Moore County News that the incident involves the family of an active volunteer fireman with WEFD.

“We ask that you keep the family involved as well as the responders and our entire department in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time,” Stromberg said.

MCSO officials spoke with Moore County News at the scene and were told there is no on going threat to the community, and a thorough investigation is underway. No charges or arrests have been announced.
