Vehicle fire spreads to mobile home in West End, causing damage

Published on

A mobile home was damaged Sunday night after a vehicle fire spread to the structure in the 4400 block of Carthage Road, according to fire officials.

Emergency crews were initially dispatched for a reported vehicle fire in a backyard. When the first unit arrived, firefighters found flames had extended to a nearby mobile home and upgraded the call to a structure fire.

The upgrade prompted a response from additional departments providing mutual aid.

Firefighters brought the fire under control within about 15 minutes of arrival.

Officials said flames damaged the rear of the mobile home and also traveled underneath the structure, causing additional damage to the front.

The cause of the initial vehicle fire remains under investigation.
